NOTE: We have a lunchtime author event coming up next week here at Hart County Public Library. We’re expecting a visit from New York Times best-selling author John Cribb, to talk about his new historical novel, The Rail Splitter (Republic Book Publishers, January 2023), in which the young Abraham Lincoln springs to life. A remarkable blend of coming-of-age, adventure, rags-to-riches, and love story, the novel captures the rawboned youth who goes from a log cabin to the White House to create, in many ways, the great American story.
Mr. Cribb will speak and sign books at Hart County Library (150 Benson Street, Hartwell) in their downstairs meeting room, on January 26th at noon. This community event is free and open to the public. A bestselling author who has written about subjects ranging from history to education, John is the coauthor, with William J. Bennett, of The American Patriot’s Almanac. His first novel, Old Abe, covering the last five years of Lincoln’s life, has met with widespread acclaim. Incorporating years of the author’s research for historical accuracy, The Rail Splitter reminds readers during a time when our nation worries about its future, that the country Lincoln loved is a place of wide-open dreams where extraordinary journeys unfold. It is an important novel for everyone interested in American history, the American character, and the quest for the American Dream.
